The weather this week tried its hardest to disrupt our PE lesson on Wednesday afternoon, but the use of the Hall enabled us to participate in some fun team building/strategy activities. In class, for our Guided Reading aspect of the curriculum, we have been reading, Emil and the Detectives and the story is just starting to get exciting! Emil has had his money stolen! How is he going to get it back from the man with the bowler hat?
In English this half term we are looking at story openings and endings. We have been investigating the story “That Spot” by Jack London. The class has spent some time creating additional episodes for the “Spot” series of books, and has investigated the Klondike gold rush and the Yukon area of Canada to broaden knowledge of the cold, arctic like conditions that faced those people who took part in the Canadian gold rush – the time when the “That Spot” story is set.
Year 5 wish you all a wonderful weekend.
